Edward Paul Salyers, 66, Houghton Lake, died at his home March 10, 2014.
Visitation is scheduled at First Baptist Church of Prudenville Friday, March 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. A service is scheduled for Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Doug Stockwell officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, handled arrangements.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1947, in St. Paul, VA, the son of Paul Powers and Charlean Salyers. He retired from Detroit Diesel in 2004 and moved to Houghton Lake in 2006 from Holly. He married Susan T. King on May 17, 1986, in Livonia.
Mr. Salyers was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Prudenville and a member of the UAW. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, riding his Harley and boating with his Boston Whaler. He especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
His father preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Susan T. Salyers of Houghton Lake; mother, Charlean Salyers; brothers, Bob (Mary) Salyers, Don (Linda) Salyers, Lee Roy (Ann) Salyers and Jack (TiAnn) Salyers; sisters, Lou (Tom) Boyd, Shirley Suit, Claudett Ervin and Mary Salyers; and several nieces and nephews.
